Harold Becker

PhD, MD, CCFP, FCFP (LM)

Dr. Harold Becker obtained an Honours Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry in 1966 followed by a Master’s degree in Biological Organic Chemistry.  He then obtained a PhD in Cell Biology under the Department of Medical Biophysics at the University of Toronto in 1971 after undertaking basic cancer research at the Princess Margaret Hospital and Ontario Cancer Institute.  He subsequently completed his MD from the University of Toronto in 1975 and later achieved Certification and then Fellowship from the College of Family Physicians of Canada. He achieved Life Membership in the College of Family Physicians of Canada in 2015.

Dr. Becker spent more than twenty years in primary patient care. For many years he taught Clinical Methods as well as The Art and Science of Clinical Medicine to undergraduate first and second year medical students at the University of Toronto. He presently holds an appointment of Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto.

Dr. Becker represented the Ontario Medical Association on the Minister’s Committee on the Designated Assessment Centre system at the Financial Services Commission of Ontario from 1996 through 2001 and was the Chair of the working group that wrote the Catastrophic DAC Assessment Guidelines implemented in Ontario in 2001. He was appointed by the Minister of Finance to take part in the Minister’s Advisory Panel to Re-Assess the Definition of Catastrophic Impairment under Bill 59 in 2000. Dr. Becker’s extensive background as well as more than 20 years’ experience in the interpretation and use of the AMA Guides 4th edition since 1996 has provided him with a unique and unparalleled perspective on the assessment of Catastrophic Impairment in Ontario.

He is the Past President of the Medico-legal Society of Toronto and is a well-known and frequent speaker at insurance industry and medicolegal conferences on the subject of Catastrophic Impairment.

Lisa Becker

BSc (HONS), MD, FRCP(C)

Dr. Lisa Becker is a duly qualified specialist in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. She obtained an Honours Bachelor of Science degree with combined majors in Kinesiology and Human Biology prior to entering Medical School. In 2001, she completed her medical degree (MD) at McMaster University and successfully completed the Royal College fellowship examinations in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation in May 2007.

Dr. Becker currently holds a full-time academic position as Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto and is a consultant physiatrist at University Health Network, Toronto Rehab site, in both the Musculoskeletal and Brain & Spinal Cord programs. Dr. Becker has been the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Residency Program Director at the University of Toronto since 2011 and is the Associate Physiatrist-in-Chief for Education for the Division of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, University of Toronto. Dr. Becker spends a significant portion of her professional activities in the undertaking of catastrophic impairment analysis and expert medicolegal examinations under Ontario Auto Insurance legislation.

Current professional affiliations include the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario, Canadian Medical Protective Association, Canadian Medical Association, Ontario Medical Association, Canadian Association of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and Medico-Legal Society of Toronto.

Dory Becker

PhD, C. PSYCH

Dr. Dory Becker is a registered Psychologist with the College of Psychologists of Ontario, specializing in Clinical and Rehabilitation Psychology. She obtained her doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the University of Windsor in 2005 and has worked in the personal injury field since 2006. Currently, she splits her time between Omega Medical Associates, where she has a specialized focus on catastrophic impairment determinations and provision of psychological treatment services, and Altum Health at the University Health Network, Toronto Western Hospital, where she participates in the assessment and treatment of individuals who have been involved in work-related accidents. Dr. Becker is actively involved in both the supervision and mentoring of other psychologists and allied health professionals. She has spent time as a Psychologist in Australia, where she worked with adults with addictive behaviours. Dr. Becker is currently a member of the Ontario Psychological Association, the Medico-Legal Society of Toronto, and the Canadian Academy of Psychologists in Disability Assessment. She is certified by the Canadian Society of Medical Examiners/Canadian Academy of Psychologists in Disability Assessment in mental behavioural impairment rating based on the AMA Guides, Fourth and Sixth Editions, including successful completion of the C-CAT(MB) exam. Dr. Becker has conducted over 1000 catastrophic impairment examinations. Her expert testimony has been accepted by FSCO arbitrators and License Appeal Tribunal adjudicators.

Tanya Krasner-Fisherman

BSc(Hon), MScPT

Clinical Services Director

Ms. Tanya Krasner-Fisherman obtained her Honours Bachelor of Science degree from York University in 2005 and a Master’s of Sciences in Physical Therapy from the University of Toronto in 2007. She is a registered physiotherapist with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario.

Ms. Krasner-Fisherman has years of clinical experience in the assessment and treatment of various musculoskeletal conditions and has previously worked with patients of all ages involving post-operative rehabilitation, as well as with patients who have suffered injuries through sports, work, or involvement in motor vehicle accidents. She has completed numerous post-graduate courses with application to these patient populations, and is trained in Acupuncture, Mulligan Concept, the McKenzie Method®, and manual technique courses through the Advanced Physical Therapy Education Institute.

Ms. Krasner-Fisherman has worked at Omega Medical Associates since 2007, taking on the roles of Clinical Services Director and Assistant Clinical Co-ordinator. She has trained under Dr. Harold Becker since 2007 and has extensive knowledge of current and past motor vehicle accident legislation, Catastrophic Impairment, and the application of the AMA Guides 4th and 6th editions under the SABS. In her capacity as a physiotherapist, Ms. Krasner-Fisherman also undertakes clinical evaluations for the purpose of determining impairment and disability.

Sandra D'Souza

Executive Director

Ms. Sandra D’Souza is the Executive Director for Omega Medical Associates. She is a key member of the Management Team of Omega Medical Associates working with Dr. Harold Becker, Primary Care Physician and Dr. Lisa Becker, Physiatrist and Dr. Dory Becker, Psychologist. The Omega Team have more than 25 years’ experience in the interpretation and use of the AMA Guides which has provided them with a unique and unparalleled perspective on the assessment of Catastrophic Impairment in Ontario.

Omega Medical is well-known for its work in dealing with all patient populations including Spinal Cord and Acquired Brain Injury and are asked to be frequent speakers at various insurance industry and medicolegal conferences on the subject of Catastrophic Impairment throughout the Province.

Ms. D’Souza is well known and highly respected in the industry for her in-depth technical knowledge, attention to quality and commitment to customer satisfaction. Ms. D’Souza’s primary focus deals with Omega’s catastrophic and complex injury services and the development of products and services aimed at evaluating and treating this population. Ms. D’Souza has over 25 years of experience across assessment, rehabilitation, and case management service areas as well as an in-depth knowledge of current and past legislative frameworks.

Amanda joined the Omega team in 2021 as an Assessment Services Coordinator. She assists with reception, client intake/orientation and is responsible for coordinating schedules for the assessment team. Donna Lessard joined the Omega team in 2013 as an Assessment Services Coordinator and she brought with her over 20 years of experience in this industry. Donna is responsible for all client appointment bookings, ensuring every effort is made to arrange appointments in a timely manner. Donna is also responsible for maintaining the schedules of our large roster of assessors.

Patrice Agard

Patrice Agard is an Assessment Services Coordinator with over 25 years of experience in this medical assessment and treatment industry. She brings her knowledge and expertise from working in all realms including treatment and assessment with various disciplines. Patrice is responsible for all client appointment bookings, ensuring every effort is made to arrange appointments in a timely manner. Nancy Marcellino

Director – Reports Coordination

Nancy has been working with Dr. Harold Becker since 2006 and she is the longest serving member of Omega Medical Associates administrative team. As Director of Reports Coordination, Nancy is a key link between the Assessment Team, Dr. Harold Becker, and our referral sources, to ensure our reports are comprehensive, detailed, and produced in a timely manner.

Nancy is also the contact person at Omega Medical Associates for Report Status, LAT or Arbitration Attendance Notifications, and Scheduling of Consultations our Team.

Maria Abad

Assessment Services Coordinator – Billing and Collections

With over 20 years of experience working in the medical and rehabilitation industry, Maria is responsible for all aspects of billing and payments. Maria oversees the submission of Treatment and Assessment Plans (OCF-18s) and Auto Insurance Standard Invoices (OCF-21s) to the insurer.  She also works closely with our administrative team to ensure that our final invoicing is accurate.

Maria is a strong believer in continuing self-improvement and when not at work, she enjoys the art of photography. Over the years, she has also been a volunteer in a retirement home helping with various endeavours.
